TimelyCare

All students now have no cost access to 24/7 telehealth from anywhere in the United States. From counseling to medical appointments, TimelyCare is available for student needs.

24/7 Medical and Mental Telehealth for Seattle University Students

Seattle University has partnered with TimelyCare to offer students 24/7 access to virtual medical and mental healthcare from anywhere in the United States. This exciting new service, funded by the student wellness fee, provides a great supplement to our existing on-campus health and wellness services with no out-of-pocket cost or insurance requirement.

Services available through TimelyCare include:

  • Medical: 24/7, on-demand access to a medical provider that can treat a wide range of common illnesses like cold and flu, sinus infection, allergies and more.
  • Scheduled Medical: Scheduled options to speak to a medical provider.
  • TalkNow: On-demand 24/7, mental and emotional support, health literacy guidance, and crisis management by mental health care professionals.
  • Scheduled Counseling: Scheduled options to speak to a licensed counselor (up to 12 visits per year which reset on August 1 of each year).
  • Health Coaching: Resources to help students adopt healthier lifestyle behaviors related to sleep issues, nutrition, weight management and more.
  • Psychiatry: Services provided by referral from an on-campus medical or mental healthcare provider.
  • Group Sessions: Weekly Guided Meditation and Yoga Group Sessions, plus specialized discussions throughout the year. 

Whether your student is under the weather, anxious or overwhelmed, they will be able to talk to a licensed provider from their smartphone or any web-enabled device. Licensed providers are available to offer medical and mental health support via phone or secure video visits.

General Questions

TimelyCare is funded through the student wellness fee. TimelyCare does not take private insurance. Services provided through TimelyCare have no copay or coinsurance and are at no additional cost to students. The student wellness fee covers all costs.

Yes! TimelyCare is part of a commitment to student wellness at Seattle University and in response to resolution from SGSU and GSC calling for additional support for student wellness. Both Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and the Student Health Center will maintain their current level of clinical hours. TimelyCare supplements the services of these offices by: 

  • providing additional telehealth services where appropriate and allowing the Student Health Center to optimize clinic flow; 
  • providing additional counseling services for students located in any US state; 
  • providing 24hr care to students and reducing the likelihood that students will need to access urgent care or emergency services; and 
  • providing health coaching services. 

No, all TimelyCare and TalkNow appointments are scheduled through the TimelyCare app. 

Students can go to timelycare.com/seattleuto register with their name and Seattle University email address. Students can then have visits from any web-enabled device – smartphone, laptop, or desktop. TimelyCare is available from anywhere in the United States. 

Any enrolled Seattle University student can use TimelyCare. Seattle University employees who are part-time SU students should use the EAP instead. 

TimelyCare physicians, counselors and health coaches can treat/discuss a wide range of common conditions, and after talking to you, will decide on the best course of treatment. Some common conditions are: 

  • cold, 
  • sinus infection, 
  • influenza (flu), 
  • stress and anxiety, 
  • relationships, 
  • depression,  
  • nutrition, and 
  • healthy lifestyle. 

With TimelyCare, you will have free, 24/7 access to doctors, counselors and health coaches from anywhere in the United States, so you’ll never have to spend time or money looking for resources when you’re away from home or campus. 

Yes, if the provider deems it clinically appropriate. 

For domestic students, TimelyCare provides all services in all 50 states. Students should update their profiles with their local zip code and a provider licensed in your area will assist you. If you have a relationship with a TimelyCare counselor, you should speak discuss the transition plan. 
 
For international students and students studying abroad, you have access to all services while you are in the United States. When you are outside the United States, you have access to TalkNow, an unlimited 24/7, on-demand triage mental health support, coaching service, and crisis management provided by behavioral and health professionals. Students must download and do an initial setup of the TimelyCare app prior to leaving the United States to make use of this feature internationally.  

CAPS, Mental Health and TimelyCare

CAPS and SHC staff are employees of Seattle University and are licensed by the Washington State Department of Health to provide services to individuals located within Washington State. More specifically CAPS offers short-term counseling as the primary mental health service available for students at Seattle University, as well as case management referrals to long-term therapists, local or otherwise.  

TimelyCare is a nationwide telehealth service that Seattle University has partnered with to expand student access to 24/7 virtual medical and mental healthcare from anywhere in the United States. TimelyCare doctors, nurses, and counselors are employees of TimelyCare.  

Yes! Both Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and the Student Health Center remain the primary mental and physical health resources on campus and will maintain their current level of clinical hours.  

TimelyCare expands healthcare access for students by:  

  • providing additional counseling services for students located in any U.S. state. 
  • providing immediate, on-demand 24/7 tele-healthcare to students and reducing the likelihood that students will need to access an off-campus urgent care clinic or emergency services. 
  • providing services with more flexible scheduling, including nights and weekends. 
  • providing health coaching, nutrition consultation services, and online yoga and meditation classes. 

No. It is generally not recommended to work with two therapists simultaneously, so if you are actively working with a CAPS therapist, we would not recommend that you simultaneously schedule on-going counseling with a TimelyCare therapist, or vice versa. 

However, you are welcome to utilize the TalkNow service between visits if you need immediate support, as well as all TimelyCare medical services.

Yes, even at 2 a.m. TalkNow is emotional support when students need it. TalkNow is available 24/7 providing on-demand mental health triage, support, coaching services, and crisis management through mental health care professionals. TalkNow helps students with a range of concerns including but not limited to homesickness, stress, test anxiety, roommate frustrations, and suicidal thoughts among other concerns.

Students need a referral from the Student Health Center to access TimelyCare's psychiatry services. Please call the Student Health Center at 1-206-296-6300 to get more information.  

Not specifically. While the university does receive data on the number and demographics of students using the service, they do not receive information about specific students for anonymity.
